Divided in three villages, the municipality of Amherst is well known for its proximity to lakes, its dense forest, and the Maskinongé river.
Located by Saint-Rémi's lake and just a few kilometres away from Mont-Tremblant, the village of Saint-Rémi is the administrative centre of the town with its city hall. The route 323 that links the Laurentians to the Outaouais also crosses Amherst's commercial area.
