PATRIMOINE CULTUREL VIEUX-SAINT-EUSTACHE
A National Historic Location , the Légaré Mill is the oldest flour mill in North America, powered by water alone and still in operation since 1762.
Located along the Rivière du Chêne, in the heart of Old Saint-Eustache, the miller produces wheat and buckwheat flours using traditional methods. Flour can be purchased on site. Enthusiastic guide-interpreters explain how the old mechanisms work.
In 1976, the Légaré Mill was classified as a historic monument by the Québec government, and in 2000, it was classified as a National Historic Location by the Canadian government.
