Calvaire d'Huberdeau

Calvaire d'Huberdeau

Located on the banks of the Rivière Rouge, Huberdeau is particularly well known for its magnificent Calvary. From its summit perch, a wonderful view is offered over the village and surrounding Rouge valley. If you approach closely to the figure of Christ on the Cross, you will be fascinated by this Laurentian landscape, with the majestic Mont-Tremblant in the distance.

The first Calvary in Huberdeau was built in 1892, entirely from wood. Between 1910 and 1920, the current version began to take form, in bronzed ironwork. Each of the 27 figures making up this Calvary measures more than 2 meters and weighs some 315 kg. Each year on the first Sunday in August, there is an important gathering with the Stations of the Cross and a Mess, which is called the “Fête du Calvaire.”
