There exists in the field of contemporary art a register of know-how whose techniques are difficult to define. These results come from a juxtaposition of several ways of doing that exist only in the present time of the workshop.
Traditional techniques, artisanal, are learned, assimilated, then diverted to the benefit of aesthetic perspectives demanded by the approach and the resulting work. These artists have the quality of inventing through the field of the production of objects their own discipline, outside the capitalist specificities of productivity or profitability, associated with an intrinsic language whose outcome is the often sophisticated creation of a singular know-how.
The exhibition Registre des savoir-faire presents a first panorama of artists associated with the Laurentian territory whose approaches reveal this way of conceiving artistic production.
