Moulin Légaré - Visite touristique du Vieux-Saint-Eustache
Exhibition: From a one-room schoolhouse to high school - The history of schools of Saint-Eustache
This temporary exhibition describes the history of the Québec school system for over 200 years.
Over the last two centuries, lay and religious teachers of Saint-Eustache have had to adapt the education facilities and the teaching methods according to the trends of the times and the provincial government requirements.
The exhibition also presents the context of the arrival of religious congregations in Saint-Eustache and the construction of the convent and the boys college.
You will discover the roots of the one-room schoolhouses and their location on the Saint-Eustache territory, which was, for a long time, largely agricultural.
Finally, the exhibition will make you relive the end of the religious instruction for the benefit of a secular and compulsory education, and will conclude on the post-secondary education in the region.
